A little of our history

Yun Moo Kwan de Costa Rica

Yun Moo Kwan of Costa Rica was founded in 1980 by Master Luis Carlos Aguilar Córdoba, eighth Dan black belt and one of the highest degrees in our country. Student of GM Aquiles Wonkung Yan Yu, .

The first academy was located in San José. From that time to date, 43 years have passed. Under the guidance of its director and founder, Olympic Taekwondo was introduced in Chiriquí, Panama, in 1985, giving foundation and training to this sport in Panama.

The first black belt of our institution is Master José Luis Sandoval Vega, sixth Dan black belt and direct student of Master Luis Carlos Aguilar. Both have been the training seed of several academies in our country.

Yun Moo Kwan is considered a historical and legendary institution, given its history, and in which it has remained current, occupying the first places in the national competition and supplying high-level competitors to our national teams.

It has been able to constantly adapt to the technical changes of this Olympic sport throughout its history and also to the political ones.

Recognized and respected for maintaining training principles of the martial art and maintaining its attitude in defense of the rights of all members of the national Taekwondo community, in the face of injustices that have occurred at different times.
